The allspice tree, also known as Pimenta dioica, is a tropical evergreen tree native to the Caribbean and parts of Central and South America. The tree is best known for its dried berries, which are ground into the spice known as allspice. The berries have a flavor that resembles a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, hence the name "allspice." In addition to its culinary uses, the allspice tree is also valued for its aromatic wood and essential oil.
